The Tortoise and the Hare Matching Disk Pair, 1996
A pair of matching disk for the fable of the Tortoise and the Hare. One disk says "le lievre" with a depiction of a hare. The other says "el la tortue" with a depiction of a tortoise.
The Tortoise and the Hare Plate
The Wolf and the Goat Plate
The Wolf and the Lamb Cookie Tin, 1995
On the large cover here the wolf points a menacing finger at the lamb in midstream. A butterfly in the upper right serves as counterpoint to this scene of coming carnage. The image is again signed by H. Sainton or something similar. The sticker on the bottom of this tin, which details the cookies' ingredients, also announces that its cookies are to be consumed before Oct.,' 96.
The Wolf and the Lamb Matching Disking Pair, 1996
A pair of matching disk for the fable of the Wolf and the Lamb. One disk says "et l'agneau" with a depiction of a lamb. The other says "le loup" with a depiction of a wolf.
The Wolf and the Lamb Plate, 1900
The Wolf and the Lamb Plate
The Wolf and the Lamb Proverb Card, 1930
In style, this card seems like Liebig cards. Scrollwork on the upper left and far right reveals two different scenes of bullying by the stronger. Apparently the boy is making off with the girl's lunch. The verso features the text of La Fontaine's WL.
The Wolf and the Stork Cookie Tin, 1920
Lithographed black-and-white oval image surrounded by images in gold and black. This tin has seen better days! The long sides illustrate cranes in flight, while the short side presents the wolf.
The Wolf Become a Shepherd Plate, 1900
Thimble of Les Fables de La Fontaine Wolf Turned Shephard , 20th Century
Tissage Imagé, Woven Paper Puzzle, 1900
TMCM Red-Colored Photographic French 1904, 1904
I never want to disagree with Monsieur Cocq, but I wonder if there is not a missing fourth card in a series of six. This set quotes La Fontane but, at that point, excises a few lines of his text. Is there an extra card out there somewhere, to complete this series? As it is, this photographic series presents a strong contrast between the luxuriously dressed city rat and the simpler country rat in her plain red dress.
Tortoise and Hare cross-stitch sign, 2000
Though the seller notes a small flaw among the flowers, this is still a lovely creation! Framed and ready to hang.
Tortoise and Hare Hidden Picture Card, 1920
Even the verso gives no help here. The card quotes the first two lines of La Fontaine's TH in French and then asks where the hare is.
Tortoise and Two Geese, Set of 3 Blue Buttons, bulk: 1960 - 1969
Town Mouse and Country Mouse Dust Jacket, 1950
Good color work! Lorioux is always fun. The figure of La Fontaine on the verso is puzzling.
Town Mouse and Country Mouse Paper Scenes to Cut Out and Mount, 1948
Twenty-nine French matchboxes, 1950
This almost-complete set, missing only "Les Deux Pigeons," replicates the full set of covers in both sets of SEITA illustrations, minus the two larger covers apparently used for packages of ten. Their images are thus the same as that set.
Two Hunters and a Boar Plate
Two Service de Poupee Plates, 1925
Une Irrepressible et Coupable Passion, 2012
Two copies of the French copy of "A Wild Surge of Guilty Passion" a novel by Ron Hansen. The French version was published in 2012 by Buchet Chastel.
V. Spahn, Nos. 7, 15, and 17, 1950?
Vernicire, Set of 44, 1920
These cards are unusual in having mostly print on the "image" side of the card. There is a full text of La Fontaine's fable on each verso. The verso of several is crudely cut. The cards are arranged in French alphabetical order.
